Authorities Investigate Source of Ketamine in Matthew Perry's Death

Law enforcement is investigating the source of the ketamine that contributed to the death of actor Matthew Perry, known for his role in the TV show "Friends." The Los Angeles Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) have been looking into the matter for several months. They have interviewed several individuals in Hollywood, including those with a history of drug use, to gather information that might lead to the provider of the drug. So far, no arrests have been made.

Perry's death was initially considered accidental, but further investigation revealed the presence of ketamine in his system. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner ruled that he died from an accidental ketamine overdose on October 28, 2023. Perry had been undergoing ketamine infusion therapy for depression and anxiety, but the ketamine found in his system was not related to this medical treatment. The investigation aims to determine how he obtained the additional ketamine. This is not the first time federal authorities have investigated a drug-related death, as they were also involved in the 2018 overdose case of musician Mac Miller.
