Apple Delays Mac Studio, Mac Pro Updates to 2025

Apple's high-end Mac Studio and Mac Pro computers are not expected to receive updates until mid-2025, as reported by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. The current models, which were last refreshed in 2023 with M2-series chips, are anticipated to undergo a two-year interval without new versions being released. This update pattern is not unprecedented for Apple, as evidenced by the iMac's jump from M1 to M3 chips, bypassing a generation.

Despite the lack of updates for the Mac Studio and Mac Pro, the rest of Apple's Mac lineup, with the exception of the MacBook Air, is projected to incorporate M4 chips by the end of 2024. As the company has begun formal development of the M4 MacBook Pro, these advanced chips are expected to appear in the premium MacBook Pro models. According to Gurman, there will likely be no announcements of new Mac models at the upcoming WWDC in June, marking 2022 and 2023 as exceptions for mid-year Mac releases.
