2025 Ford Maverick Pickup Debuts Hybrid AWD and Enhanced Towing Capacity

Ford Motor Co. is introducing an updated version of its small pickup truck, the Maverick, for the 2025 model year. The new Maverick will feature significant enhancements, including the option of an all-wheel-drive hybrid powertrain available on XL, XLT, and Lariat trims. The truck also boasts a larger 13.2-inch infotainment touchscreen, replacing the previous 8.0-inch display, and includes new towing technologies like Pro Trailer Backup Assist. The starting price for the 2025 Maverick is $26,295, with an additional $1,595 for destination and delivery charges. Orders for the vehicle open on Thursday, with deliveries expected by the end of the year.

Additional updates for the 2025 Maverick include advanced connectivity features such as a 5G modem, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The Lariat and Tremor trims will come equipped with intelligent adaptive cruise control, lane centering, and speed-sign recognition. The vehicle also features a maximum payload capacity of 1,500 pounds and the versatile FLEXBED system for improved cargo management. Ford has reported that the Maverick has been a strong performer in the market since its launch in 2021, with an 81% increase in sales year-over-year and production numbers up by 77% through June compared to the same period in 2023.

The 2025 Maverick will start at $34,500 in Canada, where orders open on August 1. Despite the increased price, Ford officials believe the vehicle remains competitively priced within the market. The updated model also includes an 8-inch digital instrument cluster and improved aesthetic features, aligning it more closely with the F-150. The Tremor trim, now a standalone model, will not feature all-wheel drive. Production of the Maverick continues at Ford's Hermosillo plant in Mexico, which has added a third shift to meet the increased demand.
