X's Premium+ Subscription Now Completely Ad-Free
X, formerly known as Twitter, has made its Premium+ subscription tier fully ad-free. This tier, which costs $16 per month in the US, previously displayed ads in various sections of the platform, despite being marketed as ad-free. The company has now removed these ads completely from the For You and Following timelines, though promoted content may still appear in other areas of the platform.
In addition to this change, X has introduced a setting that allows user interactions and inputs to train Grok, an AI model, for fine-tuning purposes. These interactions may also be shared with X's service provider xAl. The platform continues to face legal challenges, including a lawsuit against the Global Alliance for Responsible Media (GARM) and the World Federation of Advertisers (WFA), alleging efforts to steer advertisers away from X. Additionally, the Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC) has taken X to court over its unauthorized use of user data to train Grok. The basic tier, priced at $3 per month, will continue to show ads.
