Target Partners with Shopify to Expand Marketplace and Accelerate Online Growth

Target Corporation (NYSE: TGT) has announced a partnership with global commerce platform Shopify to integrate a selection of popular merchants and their products into Target Plus, the retailer's third-party digital marketplace. This collaboration aims to expand Target Plus with new and trendy brands, offering growth opportunities for emerging businesses. Select Shopify merchants will have the opportunity to feature their products both online and in Target stores nationwide, making Target the first mass retailer to bring Shopify merchants' products into physical stores.

Starting Monday, Shopify merchants can apply to join Target Plus through an app that facilitates seamless order management on the marketplace. The partnership is expected to enhance Target's online traffic and revive e-commerce growth, following a 1.4% increase in digital sales in the first quarter. Target Plus remains an invite-only marketplace with over 1,200 sellers. Financial terms and the duration of the deal were not disclosed. Target shoppers will also be able to enjoy existing perks, such as 5% off on purchases over $35.
