Rep. Slotkin's Michigan Home Targeted in Swatting Incident
Michigan State Police responded to the home of Democratic U.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin in Holly, Michigan, following a swatting hoax on Thursday evening. The incident occurred around 6:50 p.m. local time when Slotkin was not home. A swatting hoax involves making a false emergency call to prompt a heavy law enforcement response. Slotkin, who currently serves in Michigan's 7th Congressional District, is running for the U.S. Senate seat held by Sen. Debbie Stabenow.
This incident is part of a broader trend of swatting calls targeting public officials. Earlier this year, a suspect was identified in connection with over 100 swatting calls aimed at officials, including Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency Director Jen Easterly. Slotkin's office confirmed the incident and stated that no one was in danger. The U.S. Capitol Police are investigating the matter to hold those responsible accountable.
