QatarEnergy to Construct Major Urea Complex, Doubling Production and Leading Global Exports
QatarEnergy, a state-owned enterprise, has unveiled plans to significantly increase its annual urea production capacity from 6 million to 12.4 million tons by 2030. This expansion, detailed by CEO Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, will involve the construction of four new production lines and three ammonia production lines at a new complex in Mesaieed Industrial City. This development is poised to make Qatar the world's largest exporter of urea, a key ingredient in fertilizers, thereby supporting global food production and security.
In addition to the urea production expansion, QatarEnergy is advancing its North Field gas production project, which is on schedule and expected to boost liquefied natural gas (LNG) output by 85%. Furthermore, the company aims to more than double its solar energy production to 4,000 megawatts by 2030, with a new solar power station planned for the eastern Dukhan region. These initiatives reflect QatarEnergy's broader strategy to enhance its energy production capacity across multiple sectors.
