Nintendo's June 2024 Direct revealed significant announcements, marking 2025 as the final year for the Nintendo Switch, with its end confirmed for April 2025. Among the notable game reveals, the new entry in the Mario & Luigi series, titled Mario & Luigi: Brothership, will launch on November 7, 2024. This marks the first new game in the series in nine years. Another major reveal was The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, allowing players to control Princess Zelda using the Tri Rod to create environmental "echoes." Metroid Prime 4: Beyond also received a name and a tentative release date for the upcoming Nintendo Switch successor.

Other announcements included the return of several beloved franchises and new game titles. Dragon Quest 3 is getting an HD-2D remake, and Donkey Kong Country Returns HD will be released on January 16, 2025. Additionally, FAIRY TAIL 2 and Hironobu Sakaguchi's original RPG, Fantasian Neo Dimension, were introduced. Nintendo Switch Sports will receive a free Basketball update this summer. The Japanese version of the Direct included a wider range of games, some of which may receive localization announcements in the future.
