Korle Bu Dialysis Centre Set to Reopen Next Week

The Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) has announced that its dialysis center will resume full operations next week. The reopening follows a 13-day closure due to delays in obtaining essential dialysis consumables caused by procedural lapses and documentation issues. The Ghana Revenue Authority and the Ghana Supply Company are assisting with the expedited clearance of these supplies from the Tema Port.

In response to the closure, the hospital temporarily relocated dialysis services to the National Cardiothoracic Centre. During the closure, three patients reportedly died, and many others sought care at private facilities. The Minister of Health, Hon. Bernard Okoe Boye, has also purchased 30 additional dialysis machines along with a year's supply of consumables to prevent future shortages. The hospital management expressed regret for any inconvenience caused and thanked patients for their understanding.
