Jack Black Teases Tenacious D Comeback After Tour Cancellation
Jack Black, actor and musician known for his role in Tenacious D, has announced that the band will eventually return despite the cancellation of their latest tour. The tour was called off following controversial comments made by bandmate Kyle Gass about the assassination attempt on Donald Trump during a performance in Australia. Gass's joke, which referenced the incident, received backlash and led to calls for the band's deportation by Australian federal senator Ralph Babet.
Black expressed that he was "blindsided" by Gass's remarks and emphasized that he does not condone hate speech or political violence. Gass has since issued an apology, acknowledging the inappropriateness and danger of his comments. As a result, all future creative plans for Tenacious D are currently on hold. Meanwhile, Black is promoting his new film, "Borderlands," based on the video game of the same name.
