Israeli Military Rescues Hostage Abducted by Hamas

The Israeli military has rescued Qaid Farhan Alkadi, an Arab citizen of Israel, who was among those abducted by Hamas during its Oct. 7 attack. This operation took place in the southern Gaza Strip. Alkadi, a 52-year-old from Israel's Arab Bedouin minority, was working as a guard at a packing factory in Kibbutz Magen when he was taken. The attack led to over 1,200 deaths, while Israel's retaliatory offensive has resulted in over 40,000 Palestinian casualties and displaced 90% of Gaza's 2.3 million residents.

Hamas still holds approximately 110 hostages, with about a third believed to be dead. So far, Israel has managed to rescue eight hostages, including in operations that have resulted in significant Palestinian casualties. Efforts are ongoing by the United States, Egypt, and Qatar to negotiate an agreement aimed at freeing the remaining hostages in exchange for a lasting cease-fire.
