Inmates in Volgograd Prison Seize Hostages, Killing One Staff Member
Inmates at the IK-19 Surovikino penal colony in Russia's Volgograd region have taken over the facility and taken hostages, resulting in the death of at least one prison staff member and injuries to several others. The incident occurred during a disciplinary commission session at the prison, which is located approximately 120 kilometers west of the city of Volgograd and has the capacity to hold up to 1,241 male prisoners.
The prisoners involved in the takeover include members of ISIS, according to reports.
