Social media platform X (formerly Twitter) experienced a global service outage on Wednesday morning, affecting users in various regions including India and the United States. Downdetector, an outage tracking website, recorded over 36,500 reports in the U.S. and over 1,100 reports in India. Users reported issues with both the official app and the website, with difficulties in refreshing feeds and updating posts.
The cause of the outage remains unclear, and the company has not provided any official explanation. Speculation suggests it could be related to DNS issues, particularly affecting users with specific internet service providers. This incident is part of a series of outages that X has experienced since Elon Musk acquired the company in 2022 and implemented significant changes, including rebranding. The services were reported to be restored within hours, but the lack of communication from X has left users uncertain about the underlying problem.
