First Teaser of Disney's Live-Action Snow White Revealed at D23
Disney has unveiled the first look of Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen in its forthcoming live-action adaptation of "Snow White," slated for release on March 21, 2025. The film, which reimagines Disney's original 1937 animated classic "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," is directed by Marc Webb with a screenplay by Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson. Rachel Zegler stars as Snow White, alongside Gadot, Ansu Kabia as the Huntsman, and Andrew Burnap in a new role named Jonathan. The project aims to expand on the original story and music, featuring new songs by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, known for their work on "La La Land" and "The Greatest Showman."
The trailer for "Snow White" debuted at Disney's D23 Expo, where the audience was treated to a sneak peek of the film and other upcoming Disney projects. The event showcased clips from anticipated releases like "Captain America: Brave New World" and "Star Wars: Skeleton Crew." The presentation also included a performance by Bob Iger and Auliʻi Cravalho, who introduced a new song from the forthcoming "Moana 2." The "Snow White" preview included glimpses of the classic song "Whistle While You Work" and a teaser featuring the iconic poisoned apple.
The film's release date was postponed to March 21, 2025, due to delays caused by a SAG-AFTRA strike and a fire on set. Despite these setbacks, the production promises to honor the original while introducing new elements and characters. The D23 Expo also highlighted other Disney projects, including the first Star Wars feature film since 2019, directed by Jon Favreau, set for a May 2026 release.
