Drone Strike Prompts Emergency in Voronezh Region
A series of drone attacks on Russia's Voronezh Oblast have resulted in a fire and explosions at an ammunition storage site in the Ostrogozhsky district. Governor Aleksandr Gusev reported that Russian air defense and electronic warfare systems intercepted and suppressed five unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), causing fragments to fall and ignite a fire, which led to the detonation of explosive objects. This incident prompted a state of emergency and the evacuation of approximately 200 residents from three settlements. Two people were injured, with one in serious condition.
The drone attacks are part of a broader series of strikes reportedly conducted by Ukrainian forces aimed at damaging Russia's military infrastructure and disrupting logistics. In a separate but related event, the Ukrainian Navy destroyed Russia’s last operational railway ferry in the Kerch Strait, impacting military logistics and fuel supplies for the Russian military. The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed to have shot down seven drones across three regions on the night of August 24, highlighting ongoing tensions and military engagements in the region.
