David Lynch Confined to Home and Remote Directing Due to Emphysema

Director David Lynch has revealed that he is now homebound due to severe emphysema, a condition he attributes to a lifetime of smoking. Speaking to Sight & Sound magazine, Lynch stated that his health issues prevent him from leaving the house and make it unlikely that he will direct in person again. If he does take on future projects, they would have to be done remotely.

Lynch's last major work was the 2017 television series Twin Peaks: The Return, which received critical acclaim. Despite his health challenges, Lynch remains hopeful about potential projects, including his unproduced 2010 screenplay, Antelope Don't Run No More. He also recently pitched an animated project to Netflix, although it was not picked up. His last feature film was Inland Empire in 2006.
