Body of Paddleboarder Found at Rampart Reservoir
The body of a paddleboarder was recovered from Rampart Reservoir near Colorado Springs following an extensive search by multiple agencies. The paddleboarder was reported missing on Saturday afternoon during a wind storm, with witnesses noting that he fell into the water, which was around 62 degrees Fahrenheit. The search, initially led by the Colorado Springs Fire Department and involving a helicopter, was later taken over by Colorado Parks and Wildlife's (CPW) Marine Evidence Recovery Team.
Using sonar and a remote-operated vehicle, CPW located the body approximately 67 feet underwater. The El Paso County Coroner’s Office took custody of the remains around 4:30 a.m. Sunday morning and will formally identify the victim and determine the cause of death. This incident adds to the rising number of water-related fatalities in Colorado, which have reportedly exceeded 30 this year.
