Bangladesh enlists Oxford Group for vaccine centre setup

In a recent visit to the University of Oxford, Bangladesh Health Minister Dr. Samanta Lal Sen sought collaboration with the Oxford Vaccine Group for the development of a vaccine center in Bangladesh. This initiative aligns with the Bangladesh government's vision of providing high-quality health services for all, under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

During the visit, where discussions took place about the creation of a National Vaccine Project aimed at manufacturing vaccines domestically, Dr. Sen conferred with Professor Sir Andrew Pollard F MedSci, the Director of the Oxford Vaccine Group. They explored the possibility of setting up a laboratory in Bangladesh to facilitate the production of vaccines and the industrialization process. Additionally, they considered opportunities for training Bangladeshi scientists, doctors, and health professionals.

The Health Minister's visit to the UK also included his attendance at the "International Response to Antimicrobial Resistance" conference, organized by the UK Government and the Royal Society. The Bangladesh High Commission in London has highlighted the importance of this initiative in achieving the government's health service goals.
