Australian Government Blames Israeli Military Failures for Aid Workers' Deaths in Gaza
Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong has reported that serious failures by the Israeli military led to the deaths of aid workers in Gaza in April. An Australian government review found that errors in decision-making and a failure to follow procedures resulted in air strikes on vehicles, killing seven charity workers. The deceased included citizens of Australia, Britain, Poland, Palestinians, and a dual citizen of the U.S. and Canada.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have acknowledged the incident as a grave mistake and have committed to ensuring full accountability, which may include criminal charges. Wong emphasized that Australia would push for those responsible to be held accountable.
