Apple Rolls Out Sixth Beta Versions for iOS 18 and More
Apple has released the second developer betas for iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1, with the new builds now available for testing. These updates introduce Apple Intelligence, a suite of generative AI and machine learning features. Enhancements include a redesigned Siri animation, Type to Siri, improved contextual awareness, and various writing tools. Additionally, a new Distraction Control feature in Safari aims to remove unwanted elements from webpages, and the Photos app has undergone changes, including the removal of the Carousel UI.
In parallel, Apple has rolled out the sixth beta for visionOS 2, featuring machine learning capabilities that convert 2D photos into 3D images and new customizable Home View options. The Vision Pro device now supports AirPlay and Bluetooth mice, among other features. Concurrently, the company is also testing macOS Sequoia 15.1 and watchOS 11. All these beta versions are available exclusively to registered developers and are not recommended for installation on primary or mission-critical devices due to potential stability issues.
The iOS 18.1 beta 2 release continues to build on the initial beta, which included AI-driven writing tools, phone call recording and transcription, and AI summaries in the Mail and Messages apps. This new build further enhances these features and aims to improve user experience based on developer feedback. Apple has yet to announce an official release date for the final versions of iOS 18 and iPadOS 18, but they are expected to be available in the fall.
